Shimla- A Gateway to panoramic himalaya

Shimla as a tourist destination has made visitor a worth visiting place in India where you can have a panoramic view of the Himalaya mountain peaks.  Shimla is the capital city of the state Himachal Pradesh.

The name Shimla has been derived from the name Goddess ‘Shyamala Devi’, who is a Hindu Goddess. Shimla was declared as a summer capital of British Raj in the year 1864 during the British ruled in India.  But in present it is no longer a capital of British ruler. This place is comprises of 19 Hill states such as - Balson, Bushahr, Bhaji and Koti, Darkoti, Tharoch & Dhadi, Kumharsain, Khaneti & Delath, Dhami, Jubbal, Keothal, Madhan, Rawingarh, Ratesh, and Sangri.

Shimla is the best destination for the tourist who prefers to visit hill stations in India. The fact that it is a home to the mountain biking race MTB Himalaya in South-East Asia which is regarded as the biggest event. The Kalka-Shimla railway route is one of the most authentic mountain railways and recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The weather in Shimla remains cool and pleasant in the summer while in winter the temperatures falls below zero.

Best time to visit Shimla is from the months of April to August & December to January. But it is suitable to visit throughout the year according to weather condition.
